BASE MAPPING Each stockpile inventory includes a volumetric survey referenced to historic coalyard base topography. A potentially significant, but often overlooked, source of error in the physical inventory process is the use of inaccurate or incomplete base topography information. Historic base topography at a site may not accurately represent current conditions as coal surcharge weight can cause the base material to consolidate and subside over time. MIKON's experience with density and volumetric surveys can aid the client in determining inventory errors that may be historically related to the use of inaccurate base topography. We have provided base surveys, including specialized testing programs for coal quality analysis, to numerous utility clients. |
